Earlier today i was reading about Shelby Lyn Allen on her website. If you don't already know Shelby Lyn Allen died after playing a drinking game with some of her friends. She had 8 oz of vodka. Her friends just let her sleep it off, they put her up against the toilet and went to sleep. When they woke up the next morning she had died.
Yes, I think the drinking age should be lowered to 18. There are 82 countries whos drinking age is 18 and only 5 whos drinking age is 21. Threre is also 12 countries whos drinking age is 16, and 17 countries where there is no drinking age. I believe if the age was lowered to 18 it would reduce bad practices (drinking illegally). Alot of teens drink because the know its not legal and the feel "cool", I think the would lose the thrill to drink.
Whether the drinking age is lowered or not teens still drink, think about it!
At age eighteen you are considered an adult. That is the way the world expects you to act, but they do not treat you in that manner. Saying you are not allowed to drink till you are twenty-one is pretty much telling you that you are not mature enough, but at the same time they call you an adult.
I think that if somone is considered old enough to choose what they are doing for the rest of your life. Like for example you can join the army and go to war or you could be drafted and be forced to go to war. Then you should be able to decide what your able to drink as well.
In 1984, The National Minimum Age Act was put into place, making the legal purchasing and drinking age of alcohol in the US 21. Until then, drinking ages and purchasing ages varied from state to state. In the US today, an 18 year old is considered an adult and is elgible to serve in the millitary, serve on a jury, vote and go to prison. Basicaly, an 18 year old can fight for their country, sit on a jury with their peers and decide who the next president can be, but they can't legally purchase or consume alcohol.
I disagree with lowering the legal drinking-age.Most have been told that the responsible age is 18,however when it comes to alcohol it is a different story. There are many different types of alcohol users, some are alot more careful while others are not.Since the underage drinking rate was raised to age 21 three times as many 18 year olds have not consumed alcohol.Lowering the drinking age increases car crashes among youth.
Alcohol to me mean: abuse, accidents, and deaths. I don't understand why people would want to lower the drinking age. I believe that if we lower the drinking age there would be way more accidents that there is now, as i read in duipictures.com said that every 20 min there an alcohol related death.
I believe that they should lower the drinking age to 18 years old. When you turn 18 you become an adult, you can legally smoke cigarettes and get married. To me getting married is a bigger decision than deciding whether to drink. Why shouldn't you be able to drink at the age of 18? The law doesn't stop people from drinking. The majority of people have some kind of alcohol in their house making it very easy for an underage person to drink. If you go to most colleges many people drink and it doesn't affect them wit
I am in fully in favor of lowering the drinking age to 18. I think there are many reasons that the drinking age should be lowered. Some people might consider the reasons not logical for this debate but I disagree. I think that if you can go to war, vote, drive, smoke tobacco, get married, etc you should be able to have a few drinks.
Just because there is a law stating you can not drink under the age of 21 ,younger people still do it. It has always been that way. Everyone knows that high school kids drink regularly, despite the law. All that the law does is make teens hide and have house parties where they can and will over drink. This quote from MSNBC.com supports my idea
I believe that the drinking age should not be lowered. For one people are already drinking and but the way I see it people have a little more caution when they drink underage. If it is legalized people will take more advantage of it and more deaths or accidents will occur. Responsiblility is a must for consumption of alcohol. It a personal choice and people need to start making better ones. The lowering age of alcohol should not be made because people are not smart enough at the age of 18. Not only does it cause bodily harm but can cause serious effects even death. The most common being related to drunk driving.
The drinking age in over half of the world's countries is 18 or under. I think that it is time for the U.S. to update as well. The only other countries that have made alcohol illegal or "21 and over" are mostly muslim countries and their religion strictly prevents alcohol. I don't know about you but I do not want to live like people in Iran or India.
I am comepletley and totally for the lowering of the drinking age. There are far many beifits that would come and outway the bad stuff and bring good. First off people who are against it and dont want it to happen are silly because even if it does get lowered it has no effect on them at all cause its there choice and they dont have to do it if they dont want, but people who are for it then it would make alot of difference to them cause then they could legally just go to a bar and have fun and alot of stuff.
Yes, we should lower the drinkink age to 18 it really wouldnt change things much because all the teens that want to drink do it anyways. My opinion towards the subject is that I really dont care if they lower the drinking age because it wouldnt affect me in any way. The state thinks that their stopping teen agers from drinking with the law that nobody under the age of 21 can drink . I think the law drives teenagers to drink because there breaking the law and there having fun doing it. They should also legallice alchol because all the teenagers that want to drink that are under the age of 21 do it anyways.
I think they should lower the drinking alcohol for several reasons. First of all, they should lower the age because you are an adult when you are 18.. When you are 18, you have the right to vote, the right to get married. the right to serve in public office, enlist in the military, and move out, all this according to Cognac.com . When you come to this age you are free. No one can tell you what to do or say. You make your own decisions.
